Current developments in implantology in recent years has significantly changed the requirements and wishes of patients concerning the implant treatment. Implants no longer simply have to be osseointegrated, but instead have to be inserted in the ideal position according to a prosthetic treatment concept. As a result, most of the implant treatments require some kind of bone augmentation. The implantologist has a wide range of options and materials to choose from. It is important to use these various methods correctly and to reduce morbidity for the patient. Sinus floor elevation, guided tissue regeneration, autologous bone transplantation or allogeneic bone blocks – what are the indications? Is autologous bone irreplaceable as the gold standard or do we now have equivalent methods available? What do allogeneic bone replacement materials do and how safe is their usage?
The course is aimed at dentists, oral surgeons and oral and maxillofacial surgeons who practice implantology and who want to expand their spectrum in the field of implantology, especially in the area of augmentative surgery and soft tissue management. With the help of numerous clinical images and live surgeries, the techniques, methods and materials for surgical interventions in the implant field will be presented in a practical and reproducible manner. Practical exercises on the model and on the swine jaw should facilitate direct implementation and handling.
